I breed my flock of budgies two or three times a year, looking forward each time to when the baby budgies show their colours and eventually leave the nest. I particularly enjoy the genetics of breeding budgies, finding great pleasure in selecting parent birds to produce specific varieties and colours.
My favourite budgie colours are the normal blue series and my favourite variety is the recessive pied. My absolute favourite is the cobalt recessive pied, and I am very proud of the few that I have successfully bred.
Budgerigars usually referred to as budgies, make great pets because of their intelligence and antics. They are easy to keep but nonetheless have requirements that the owner need to provide to keep these small parrots, or parakeets, healthy and happy.
I board small pets for £1 per animal per day. The money raised for boarding goes directly to the education charity Porridge and Rice that works among the extreme poor living in the Nairobi slums.
In addition, if you have small animals that you no longer can care for, regardless of the reason, I will happily take them in and rehome them. If I cannot find them a new, good home, they will live their days out at The Farm at 64.
