Chinese Painted Quails, also known as King Quail or Button Quail, are small ground dwelling birds, ideal for the bottom of an aviary of doves or finches. They will live happily scratching in the ground for small insects and picking up seeds spilled by other birds.
Chinese Painted Quails, having been bred for many years, have given rise to numerous mutations and colours. They are happy outdoors all year around provide they have somewhere dry to shelter from the wind and rain.
Chinese Painted Quails are active little birds that will spend hours scratching in the ground in search of insects, scraps and seed dropped by other birds. While the spills from other birds will not be sufficient for them, they will keep the floor of an aviary clean and help to reduce wasted bird seed.
I board small pets for £1 per animal per day. The money raised for boarding goes directly to the education charity Porridge and Rice that works among the extreme poor living in the Nairobi slums.
In addition, if you have small animals that you no longer can care for, regardless of the reason, I will happily take them in and rehome them. If I cannot find them a new, good home, they will live their days out at The Farm at 64.
